The best way to wash your shirt (and make It last longer)

🧾 1. Always check the label.
It may seem obvious, but many people ignore it. The label gives you the rules of the game: type of wash, temperature, if it can be tumble dried, if it needs dry cleaning, etc.
Every fabric has its own personality, and the label is its care manual.

💧 2. Cold or warm water = best ally
Avoid hot water at all costs, unless the label says so. Heat damages fibres, shrinks cotton and causes colours to fade.
Recommendation: use cold water (20-30°C) for almost all types of shirts, especially coloured or patterned shirts.

🔄 3. Turn your shirt inside out
Washing shirts inside out is a simple but powerful trick.

  • It protects buttons and seams
  • Reduces wear and tear on the fabric
  • Helps preserve colour and prints

🧼 4. Mild detergent, every time
No harsh detergents or bleach.
Use mild, eco-friendly products if you can, and don't overdo it with the amount. More detergent doesn't mean cleaner; it can leave residue and harden fabric.

🧺 5. Avoid mixing with heavy clothing.
Don't mix your shirt with jeans or towels. These clothes create unnecessary friction and wear. Wash them with clothes similar in weight and colour.

🌬️ 6. Air dry
The tumble dryer is the silent enemy of many shirts. If you can, hang it on a hanger outdoors, but in the shade, to prevent the sun from fading it.

Extra tip? Hang your shirt straight and with the buttons fastened so it dries in better shape and you hardly need to iron it at all.

🧊 7. Smart ironing.
If the shirt needs it, iron inside out and at the right temperature for the type of fabric.
Cotton? High temperature. Synthetic or delicate? Low.
And if you iron it when it's still a little damp, so much the better.

💡 BONUS: Fewer washes = longer service life

Not every wear warrants a wash. If you didn't sweat or stain, just wear it.
Every wash wears the fabric a little, so the less you wash it for no reason, the longer it will last.

🧵 Your style deserves that extra care.
A well-kept shirt not only lasts longer, it looks better, feels better... and represents you better.
Investing a minute in taking good care of it, is gaining years of style.
